Influenced by the ceramic products I grew up seeing my mom using in the kitchen. I search to replicate the "nồi đất" (claypot) she used to cook "cơm cháy" (burnt rice) and "kho quẹt" (a dipping made with lards and fish sauce). As well as the "vại" ( jar) she used to pickle "dưa muối" (pickle mustard green) in.
A ritual is a repeated set of actions, and we repeat it to extend its lifespan. So through the making of these objects, I'm extending the existence of my early childhood memory with her, of cooking, and of eating together.
