in this exhibit, we considered the poetry of everyday material objects—vessels that cultivate the fabric of our being, carrying the quiet heaviness of our daily lives. Each collection within the installation is construction around the functions these vessels traditionally engage in: that of containment, of libration, and of adornment. Read more

For “Here, there, and here again”, the artists have crafted pourers, vases and sculptures that signify a library of their collected experiences. The vessels are finite containers of intimate memories, using clay as the primary medium, formed with traditional techniques, and guided by contemporary surface treatments.  Read more

HERE, THERE, AND HERE AGAIN

“A blue spring” is a collection of small pinched porcelain cylinders, accompanied by my short essay of the same name. The surface treatment, composed of predominantly dull blue and murky black glazes, take its visual cues from certain phrases within the essay. Read more.

HELD features 90 small contemporary artworks created by members of TACA. The sculptural objects are utilitarian and functional, appearing as though they could be physically ‘held’. More experimental works in the series capture that in objects memories are also held.

In honour of this history through their art practice, Passing Rituals will showcase works from artists across painting, ceramics and photography that recontextualise and reconsider traditional views within contemporary society – tracing their ancestral roots through their medium.
